Seashore for MAC

Free, open-source image editor for Mac with layers, painting and selection tools and filters. A light alternative to GIMP or Photoshop.

Seashore Overview

Seashore is an easy-to-use image editor for macOS with support for layers. Its developer describes it as a light GIMP or Photoshop, with most of the features non-professionals need to create images. It has brushes, a pencil, an eraser, clone and smudge tools, gradients, a fill bucket, a text tool, cropping and several selection tools, plus effects such as blur, bloom and crystallize.

Seashore was started by Mark Pazolli and is now maintained by Robert Engels. It is free on the Mac App Store and open source under the GPL 2.0 license. One thing to know: the developer has deprioritized Seashore in favor of Seahorse, a low-cost commercial replacement. Seashore stays free on the App Store, and the developer says they will try to keep it running on later macOS versions and fix critical bugs. It needs macOS 10.9 or later. GitHub no longer gets new builds, so use the App Store unless you want to build it yourself.
